Consumer-owned solar is now a big part of growth in N.C.
Trends in how fast solar is growing in North Carolina are ticking up. The first half of 2018 has seen especially strong activity as residents and business owners respond to great federal incentives and utility rebate programs.
One measure of the pace of new solar projects is the number of new Reports of Proposed Construction or ROPCs. The first Quarter of 2018 was notable, with a total ROPCs topping 700, a figure so high it beats all first Quarter totals but one quarterly record in the past 6 years. 98% of those proposals are for residential construction, attesting to the ongoing explosion in homes with solar in the state. This speaks to the increased level of interest among customers, and thanks to limited-time utility rebates and federal tax incentives, N.C. residents considering going solar in the next 1-3 years should know that now is a great time to get started.
